    Brand New Day
    Who: Open to anyone
    When: Anytime during the day
What: Work, getting used to life at school
    Where: Kansas State General Hospital

Sighing, Amy walked down the hallway carrying a clipboard in her hands and studying it. She had been happy that she was accepted to work as an intern at the hospital. It had always been her dream to work at a hospital...much like her mother had. She had always wanted to work in pediatrics and was glad for the experience this was granting her.

But...she still wished she had time for her friends. After getting her letter to Kansas State, she was surprised to know that she would be going to school in the States. Then much more to her surprise, she had learned that her friends had also been accepted the same school.

She was happy that they were all there together but now she wished that she had more time to spend with them. Raye was busy at the temple along with school so she could relate with her. With Amy's schedule at the hospital along with a full caseload of school...she couldn't believe that she hadn't had a nervous breakdown yet.

Running a hand through her hair, she smiled as she reached the main desk on the floor she was on and set her clipboard down "Ok...it seems that everything's all settled there...if there's anything else..." Smiling she held up her beeper "Beep me...I'll be on my break.."

Brief History: Amy's most-emphasized character trait was that she was enormously intelligent. She was rumored by her friends and other people to have an IQ of three hundred. She was adept at English. Her peers viewed her with a mixture of awe and distaste, misinterpreting her inherent shyness as snobbery, and so she tended to have a difficult time making new friends. Amy was depicted as sweet, gentle, and loyal, as well as slightly insecure. Anne Allison described her as "a smart girl who needs to relax", calling her "conscientious" and "studious", "everything Usagi is not". Early on, she relied heavily on the approval of her mother, teachers, and friends, but as the series progressed she became stronger and more confident in herself. She was generally the most sensible of the main characters, and was often the only one embarrassed when the group had a dull-witted moment. She attended Azabu Jūban Junior High along with Serena Tsukino and, later, Lita Kino.

Much of Amy's free time was spent studying. She loved to read, and dreamd aloud of one day being a doctor like her mother. Once Amy had a dream of being a doctor and leaving Japan to study abroad. Due to this dream Amy had a conflict between studying abroad and growing up or being with everyone else and staying a young girl. Given the opportunity to study in Germany, she got as far as the airport before deciding to stay in Japan and fight evil alongside her friends.

Amy had great appreciation for art as well as science, and, contrary to the usual depiction of a bookworm, even enjoyed pop culture and romance novels (though she was usually embarrassed to admit it). Ami's diligence in her studies became a running gag; she often comically scolded Serena and the others for not doing their homework, and she could become obsessive about being the best student. Her character had been interpreted as a political commentary on the education system of Japan. She sometimes displayed attraction to boys her age, and other times aversion to the idea. Love letters were listed as the one thing she has most trouble with, and when she later received one, it gave her a rash. A classmate named Ryo Urawa learns her identity and expressed attraction to her, but this was never resolved.

Besides reading, Amy was shown playing chess and swimming in order to relax. As the team scholar, computers were listed her strong point; she even belonged to the club at school. She loved all her classes, especially mathematics. Her favorite foods were given as sandwiches and anmitsu, with her least favorite being yellowtail. Other loves included cats and the color aquamarine.

Amy was one of the few girls in the series whose family situation was explicitly mentioned in the anime. Her parents were divorced, and she lived with her mother, a busy doctor who was not home very often, named Saeko. They looked very similar, and Amy admired her mother and longed to live up to her example. Besides her workaholic tendencies, Ms. Mizuno was portrayed as a good person who openly resented not having more time to spend with her daughter. Amy's father was never named, but was stated to be a painter. He never visited them, having decided one day not to come home from the forest where he was relaxing and painting, but he sendt her postcards on her birthday. Thinking about this, Amy sometimes resented her parents' selfishness in separating, partly because divorce in Japan is taboo. Amy seemed to appreciate her father and seemed to share some of his artistic traits, at one point even composing matching lyrics for a tune that had none. Ami's mother is revealed to be fairly rich, as they live in a condominium. Amy was shown testing the strength of a sword that the Sailor Senshi received on the moon by using it to chip a diamond ring. (Classically, a diamond is the hardest mineral.) When the girls panicked, she calmed them by saying that her mother had many more.

Amy was especially shy and usually wore glasses while in public, even though she did not need them. At her middle school, she had no friends before meeting Serena and always ate lunch alone on the roof so she could study. Serena seemed to be the only one to realize that Amy was merely shy, not truly standoffish, and in befriending her gradually helped Amy to learn that she was more than just a bookworm. When Amy's mother attempted to transfer her to another school because she thought Amy's friends were bad influences, Amey rebelled, avoiding the admission interview and spending the night at the Senshi hideout with Raye Hino. Later she told her mother that what she was doing in her life right now was more important than studying, and her mother understood.

Amy was a kind and gentle person who disliked quarrels and abhorred harming innocent people. This trait was even cited when she persuaded Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune not to kill Hotaru. Like her comrades, her loyalty to Sailor Moon was unwavering, and she would sacrifice her life for her princess if necessary.

Walking down the hallway of the Hospital, Amy sighed as she read the clipboard in her hands. Furrowing her eyebrows and leafing through the papers, she thought it was odd that a child that had almost nothing wrong with him was in the hospital...but she had seen symptoms like these before...she knew she had....a long time ago when she was still in Tokyo.

Closing her eyes and remembering how her boyfriend was, she remembered how he could see the future. Furrowing her eyebrows, she sighed as she looked back down at the clipboard in her hands Poor boy...I wish I really knew how to help him...but I couldn't even... Shaking her head, she pushed aside the thought and pushed the door open to the boy's room and forced a smile on her face as she thought about what to do.</lj-cut>
